Sharp distance sensors are a popular choice for many projects that require accurate distance measurements up to the range of 10 cm to 80 cm, which can be used for object detection, wall or boundary detection.
The device uses the triangular method to detect the distance range from the object, which benefits the sensor from avoiding following factors like: reflectivity from the shining or non-shining surface, the duration of the sensor being used and the environment temperature. The sensor outputs the analog data in voltage corresponding to the distance of the sensor from the object.
This sensor can find the distance to objects that present a very narrow edge such as a wall at a very sharp angle.
